Jamaican restaurant on the Danforth

Last week, I was discussing with my homegirl, Eden the Black Foodie about new Jamaican food spots in Toronto that I could try out. My criteria was pretty simple: taste delicious. Well, I’m happy to report that Eden recommended an amazing spot called Simone’s Caribbean Restaurant, and it’s located, of all places – in the heart of Greektown! Who knew one could find a Jamaican restaurant with delicious food, in a Greek neighbourhood..?!Simone’s Restaurant is tucked away into a nook at the corner of Pape and Danforth in Toronto. Entering the restaurant on a windy, Fall day felt like a mini-vacation to the Caribbean – so warm and welcoming. A few friends joined me for brunch, so we shared a series of small plates: the fish fritters, cornmeal porridge, festival, fried plantain, rice and peas, jerk chicken, pumpkin soup… oh, and we had traditional sorrel drink to wash it all down. Amazing. If you’re looking for Jamaican food and happen to be in Toronto’s Greektown – Simone’s is the spot!
